Out Front Theatre Company is now accepting submissions for the first annual SPECTRUM SPOTLIGHT SERIES. This series is an opportunity to present brand new full-length works focused on the vast and varied experiences of the LGBTQIA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer, intersex, asexual/allied, pansexual, etc.) community. Selected works will be staged as readings during our weekend-long new works festival. Many of the shows selected will be considered for further work shopping or production in upcoming seasons.

We invite playwrights to submit unpublished, full-length scripts that have no more than one reading under their belt. We happily accept work that is near production ready and those that may need additional work shopping. This is a developmental opportunity as much as it is a showcase. Though we do not have an assigned theme, submissions must be relevant and topical to the LGBTQIA community in some clear way. Each playwright is limited to one submission. Selected works will be premiered with a reading in January 2018 and submissions will close November 6th, 2017.

If you're interested in submitting, we’re accepting submissions in one of two ways:

  1. Please email a PDF copy to literary@outfronttheatre.com. Please include your contact information, brief synopsis, character breakdown, and any relevant production history.

  1. If you’re using the New Play Exchange, upload a full draft of your script and be sure the piece you intend to submit is tagged with one of the following hashtags: #lgbtq, #gay, #lesbian, #trans, #transgender, #bisexual. Once uploaded, NPX will notify you that you have an eligible script and then select “tag my play”.

Please contact Justin Kalin at literary@outfronttheatre.com if you have any questions.
